It was the ride of a lifetime as nine South Australian philanthropists rode from Melbourne to Adelaide, as part of The GoTo Foundation, to raise their target $100,000 for Flinders University Autism Early Intervention Program (EIRP). When they arrived in Adelaide last Saturday, tired but full of adrenalin they had by then raised over $70,000 for the charity and are still working hard to reach their target.

“It was so amazing,” says founding member of The GoTo Foundation George Diakomichalis of the week-long ride. “The heart of everyone on this ride was amazing because everyone committed their time, a week away from families and loved ones.” Mr Diakomichalis told Neos Kosmos that the ride was both mentally and physically challenging and said when the riders arrived in Adelaide they were overcome with emotion.

“When we got back all these emotions of everything we went through came out of us. The weather, the safety, missing our family and friends. The happiness to be back but the sadness that the week was over.”

Along with lifelong friends Lewis Pounentis and Nick Apostolou, Mr Diakomichalis started The GoTo Foundation, a nonprofit organisation geared towards the improvement of health, well being and education of individuals and groups by assisting to provide essential services for the benefit of all South Australians.
