Councillor Mary Lalios received the VMC Award for Excellence in a ceremony at Government House, on Thursday night. The award was presented to her by Victorian Premier Ted Baillieu, in the presence of Governor of Victoria, His Excellency Sir Alex Chernov.

Cr Lalios was nominated for her work within the City of Whittlesea for supporting cultural groups, promoting multiculturalism and assisting members with funding applications and governance issues.

“I feel very honoured and privileged to receive the award,” Cr Lalios said. “I’m proud to represent all culturally and linguistically diverse communities within the City of Whittlesea, and I work with all groups to promote harmony and multiculturalism. This award, although an individual award, I take pride in sharing with all the people who make up our wonderful municipality and state.”
