Internationally acclaimed soprano Elena Xanthoudakis and her brother Jason, soloist and freelance clarinettist and saxophonist, along with Clemens Leske, concert pianist, have joined forces to create TrioKROMA.
The boundless talent that is TrioKROMA have formed to give greater exposure to the genre of Romantic music written for piano, voice, and clarinet. The recording The Shepherd and the Mermaid, which will be launched this week, provides a wide selection of works ranging from Schubert’s popular iconic masterpiece Shepherd on the Rock to lost gems of the German Romantic tradition by such composers as Lachner, Kreutzer, Spath, Proch, Lindtpaintner and Kolliwoda.
Elena returns to Australia from recent engagements with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and from her work in the Royal Opera House’s production of La Sonnambula. She is the winner of the International Mozart Competition in Salzburg and the Maria Callas Grand Pric in Athens and has performed at international opera houses.
Her brother Jason, is a regular performer with the orchestras the TSO, SSO and MSO.
Pianist Leske studied at the Julliard School of Music in New York and has performed with the national Australian Orchestra as well as lecturing in piano at the Sydney Conservation of Music.
The Shepherd and the Mermaid will be launched at the Melbourne Recital Centre, on Saturday 31 March at 6:00 pm. Tickets range from $40 for adults, to $30 concession and $25 for students and are available online at melbournerecital.com.au. TrioKROMA will be signing CDs after their performance.
