A couple on the Greek island of Leros have been arrested on charges of child sexual abuse.
The pair have been accused of abusing their daughter, 14, and their eight-year-old son.
According to reports, it was hospital staff who brought the matter to police’s attention after the daughter was admitted to hospital suffering heavy bleeding from the genital region.
It is believed the parents had been sexually abusing their children for years. While it is uncertain as to whether anybody was aware of what was happening, the island community is known to be tightly-knit, and so nobody had contacted the relevant authorities.
The father of the two children has reportedly admitted to the crimes.
