The Oakleigh Grammar Management Committee has announced that Mark Robertson will continue in his position as principal, to enable “the consolidated growth and revitalization” of the school.
Mr Robertson, who was coming to the end of his tenure with the school, said he believes the school has great potential for future development.
“I am delighted to be given the opportunity to continue implementing many initiatives and strategies which will enable this school and its students to thrive now and in the longer term,” he said.
“A school’s success and prosperity are only possible when administration has the backing and co-operation of its community. It is a privilege to lead this school and I appreciate the continued support and encouragement provided by those associated with Oakleigh Grammar, including the students, parents, staff, Management Committee and Greek Orthodox community.”
Mr Robertson has been principal at Oakleigh Grammar since January 2011, at a time when enrolment numbers at the school were declining, threatening the school’s long term viability. These figures increased for the first time in five years in 2012.
Chairman of the Oakleigh Grammar Management Committee, Mr Angelo Sardellis, said Mr Robertson is right for the job as he recognizes and respect’s the school’s values and needs, and that the principal has the skills and experience to ensure that Oakleigh Grammar students are “properly equipped for success in the 21st century.
“Hellenic culture, Orthodox Christian values and Greek language are still the foundations of our school,” he insists.
