The Pontian Genocide was commemorated last Saturday at the Greek Australian memorial at the Shrine of Remembrance.
The commemoration, organised by the Coordinating Committee of Pontian Associations in Melbourne (SEPSM), was attended by the Consul General for Greece in Melbourne, Eleni Lianidou; the president of the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne and Victoria, Bill Papastergiadis as well as Greek Australian politicians John Pandazopoulos, Lee Tarlamis, and local Cr Kris Pavlidis. Two Olympiacos players took time out of their whirlwind Australian tour to remember the Pontian Genocide on Saturday 19 May.
