The International Football Association Board (IFAB) unanimously agreed to approve the wearing of headscarves during games.
The historic ruling in Zurich this week will come into effect immediately and will hopefully silence debate on the sensitive issue. Seeing as there is no medical literature concerning injuries from wearing a headscarf, the decision will be reviewed at the IFAB Annual General meeting in 2014, effectively making the decision temporary.
Also approved by the board were the use of goal-line technology and the addition of two assistant referees.
