Suspicious packages have been received in some foreign consulates in Melbourne and Canberra on Wednesday.
Diplomatic offices in Melbourne for Greece, and other countries including the United States, France, Italy, India, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Pakistan and Switzerland were among those reported to be in lockdown.
“Police and emergency services have responded to suspicious packages delivered to embassies in Melbourne,” an Australian Federal Police statement said.

Staff were evacuated from the Consulate-General of India on St Kilda Road, where police cars, two fire trucks and a hazardous materials vehicle were in attendance. They were allowed to re-enter the building by 3pm.
The circumstances surrounding the incidents are also being investigated by the police.
Victoria Police say the incidents are targeted and not a threat to the general community.
Neos Kosmos contacted the Greek Embassy and Consulate of Melbourne, however they declined to comment on the incident.
