Greek-Australian Melbourne native Alia Papageorgiou is running in the European Elections. She hopes to enter European Parliament as a candidate for Greece.
European elections take place in all 28 EU member states every four years and this year they take place from 23-26 May, just a little over a week after Australia’s own elections. The European elections shape the future of the entire European continent and its policies.
Ms Papageorgiou is running with the Green party in Greece – Green Solidarity (Πράσινοι Αλλυλεγγύη) who look at the opportunities found in Greece’s future through a more sustainable and environmental outlook.
Each country’s representation in the European Parliament depends on their population
In European elections parties put forth their lists that will appear exactly the same in each electorate and ballot around Greece on 26 May, the same day as municipal elections.
