Festival Hellenika will present the event Smyrna’s Tragedy – 90 Years On next Friday night in Adelaide.
The event will feature the National Geographic documentary 1922 – The Great Uprooting, all in Greek with English subtitles. The documentary is a comprehensive account of historical events culminating in the great Asia Minor disaster.
As well, there will be a live presentation of the 1972 work of acclaimed composer A Kaltharas and lyricist Pythagoras with their work Mikra Asia, performed by vocalists Polly Arabatzis and Vassilis Ioannidis, alongside a five piece musical ensemble directed by John Kourbelis.
