The Fair Go for Pensioners Coalition has been advised by the State Government that its  pre-election commitment to pay each pensioner’s club  $4000 has been included in the May 2019 budget and will paid as of 1 July. The money will be paid directly to each registered pensioner’s club.

There is also some assistance to pensioners who want to install solar panels. The federal Government’s promise for once off “energy relief”  payment of $75 for singles and $125 for a couple, may not be paid this year.

The FGFPC whilst welcoming these  measures,  points  out that its major demands for an increase in pensions and allowances for utilities eg electricity, gas, water, rates, have not been met. Therefore united action, meetings, protests, rallies, lobbying and development of policies  are as ever crucial on  a  State and National basis, often joining forces with other organisations and movements who fight against poverty and the increasing gap between the rich and pour.

The  FGFPC remains strongly committed to continue and intensify the campaign for a Fair go for pensioners and all other social security recipients.
