San Diego is where Mark Philippoussis does his thing these days. The Poo has reportedly put his fraught financial dealings of recent times behind him and is lapping up the beachy lifestyle of southern California, with new partner Silvana Lovin.
Apparently it was love at first sight for when they met through a friend, and according to the gossip columns moving in together is on the cards. For now, the Romania-born Lovin has a handy LA base to pursue her modelling and more recent transition into acting, while Philippoussis has launched his first fashion collection – Phlip Apparel.
Maribyrnong College-educated Philippoussis was previously engaged to American actress Jennifer Esposito and has had a string of celebrity girlfriends including Paris Hilton, Anna Kournikova, and Delta Goodrem. “I have always had a strong appreciation for fine materials and design,” says the 35-year-old former Australian tennis star.
“But I have never been able to find the perfect tee shirt.” So his new online clothes company boasts a T with his exacting formula: a no-fuss design that can take him from the beach to a balmy night out in Cardiff: that’s the laid-back Californian beach town (pop.12,000) rather than the rainy capital of Wales.
“We are starting with really high-end, comfortable tees and long-sleeve shirts and will expand after that,” says Mark.
The Phlip T-shirt is the only product currently sold by the company through its website www.phlipapparel.com. It comes in black, white and ‘heather’ (grey), and costs $US85.
