The ninth annual Australian Hellenic Golf Open (AHGO) is on this weekend at Moonah Links golf course with keen Greek golfers taking part.
The tournament will be a handicap stroke format staged over the two days. The winner will be the player with the best total handicap stroke score over the two rounds of the tournament. The event has attracted 120 golfers from across Australia to compete with the chance to be crowned as the 2012 AHGO winner. They will be presented with a return air fare ticket to Greece, proudly provided by Grecian Tours, along with having their name placed on the coveted trophy Statue of Nike.
The 2012 Australian Hellenic Golf Open (AHGO) was officially launched at Backbone Restaurant in Eaton Mall Oakleigh during a dinner function to thank sponsors for their support of the tournament including GVP Fabricators announced as the Tournament Sponsor, with Grecian Tours and Mercedes-Benz Berwick as Major Sponsors.
Theo Theodore, President of the Australian Hellenic Golf Federation (AHGF), thanked them and all the sponsors for their continued support.
“This is a great result for the Tournament and the AHGF to have organizations of such calibre on board supporting the Australian Hellenic Golf Open,” Mr Theodore said at the launch.
Other sponsors involved and supporting the tournament include: Accountancy Group, Ingen 3D Steel and Facade detailing, Blue Scope Distribution, GB Galvanizing, Navarone Transport, ZuVu Thirst, Taylor Made Adidas and the Golf Clearance outlet.
The AHGF is also proud to announce that AGAPI Care will be the official 2012 tournament charity one of their main aims being to raise awareness and funds for a designated charitable organisation involved in the Hellenic community.
A charity “hole in one” with the chance to win a Mercedes Benz, provided by Mercedes Benz Berwick, will be made available on both days with all proceeds being donated to AGAPI.
