In the memory of the Hieromartyr St. Haralambos, the leaders of the student body of St. John’s Greek Orthodox College, attended the Divine Liturgy that was held last week, at the celebrating Church of St. Haralambos, Templestowe.
Students of the College were accompanied by Principal of the College, Dr Haralambos Ladopoulos, teaching staff members and parents.
The celebration of St. Haralambos saw prominent members of Greek Australian community attend the event, amongst them the Consul General of Greece in Melbourne, Ms Eleni Lianidou, a board member of the College Mr Andreas Georgiou, and Mr Nick Xerakias, former college graduate and current advisor of the Leader of the Opposition, Tony Abbott.
Present at the Divine Liturgy, that was conducted by His Grace, Bishop Iakovos of Militoupolis, and assisted by priests Elias Kentrotis and Anthony Cagnoni, were many faithful from the Greek Orthodox Parish St. Haralambos.
After the Divine Liturgy, the students had the opportunity to talk with the parishioners of St. Haralambos and distribute brochures with useful information about their school.
To the celebrating principal of the college, Dr Haralambos Ladopoulos, students wished a very happy name day.
