Guitarist Orianthi has moved away from the melodic pop/rock sounds of 2009’s release Believe and has taken on a blues rock sound for her latest album Heaven In This Hell.
Working with producer and Eurythmics co-founder Dave Stewart, Orianthi co-wrote all of the songs on Heaven In This Hell, and has created a more adult contemporary and modern sound. With strong, soulful ballads like How Do You Sleep?, Orianthi showcases her growth as a vocalist.
The all-round performer has created some slow r’n’b tracks like How Does it Feel?, but now shying away from her rock heavy guitar driven tracks, Orianthi delivers with the Jimi Hendrix-esque Frozen. This album features more grit than pop and will appeal to an older rock audience than her last two releases.
Born in Adelaide, the 28-year-old musician shot to fame as Michael Jackson’s lead guitarist on his ill-fated This Is It world tour. She was also the lead guitarist in Alice Cooper’s live band.
