AEK Athens has been relegated from the country’s top soccer league after losing an appeal on Thursday.
A panel of officials from the Hellenic Football Federation rejected the club’s appeal against a punishment for an April 14 match with Panthrakikos stopped in the 88th minute due to fan violence.
After losing the appeal, three points were formally subtracted from AEK’s league total, leaving it in 15th place with 27 points from 30 matches. Kerkyra finished last, in 16th place with 20 points.
