PAOK announced this week the dismissal of coach Giorgos Donis in the aftermath of the Thessaloniki club’s elimination from the Greek Cup to Asteras Tripolis.

Former Greece Under-21 manager Giorgos Georgiadis will take over for the six games of the Super league playoffs, the club announced.

Donis joined PAOK last summer after leaving Atromitos, but despite taking PAOK to the second spot in the regular season he has become a hate figure for the majority of PAOK fans, not least because of his clash with former Uruguay international Pablo Garcia, who has now left PAOK.

The divorce between PAOK and Donis is far from amicable, according to reports, as the two sides might end up in courts in order to resolve the issue of the severance pay the Greek manager is entitled to according to his contract.

Meanwhile, the Super League announced that the playoff between Panathinaikos and Xanthi for the sixth spot in the table on May 9 has been moved from Larissa to Nea Smyrni, in Athens.
