The need to join the forces of Hellenism, a challenge and an investment for the future of Greeks abroad were stressed in the speech of the Secretary of the World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE), Dr Olga Sarantopoulos, as she welcomed the work of the World Conference of Expatriate Physicians and Bioscientists of Greece and Cyprus that was held in Paphos, Cyprus.
The SAE Secretary underlined that every effort on the part of the diaspora should be undertaken to ensure the continuity of Hellenism and the future of Greek children in Greece and Cyprus, and to help the economic reconstruction of Greece and Cyprus.
“The great challenge for all is to turn the power of the Hellenes abroad into positive energy that will allow the redefinition of the relationship with the homeland, creating a two-way relationship of mutual support and sincere cooperation and renegotiating its position in the world,” Dr Sarantopoulos said.
The World Conference of Expatriate Physicians and Bioscientists of Greece and Cyprus was attended by many distinguished scientists from around the world.
Mr Kypros Nikolaidis, Professor of Foetal Medicine from Kings College and University College London, was honoured by the Ministry of Health of Cyprus with the ‘Papanikolaou’ Award.
