Screening of the Greek movie Roadblocks (Κλειστοί δρόμοι), 2000, 98′, will be held by the Greek Film Society Sydney (GFSS).
Shot in a documentary style, the film of director Stavros Ioannou tells the story of a Kurdish man who enters Greece illegally to search for his young brother who has disappeared on his way to Italy. The story follows him to Athens in places inhabited by homeless refugees, until he stows away on a truck bound for Italy. There he finally hears of his brother’s fate. This movie is a journey into the ‘roadblocks’ encountered by immigrants in their quest for a new and safe life.
