The sudden death of Athenie Kalos, 18, just three days after her graduation, has left the family of Peter Kalos (Kalogeratos) stunned.
Friends and family have rushed to show their condolences and pay their respects to the grief-stricken family.
Mr Kalos is known for his work in the arts. After working in community theatre he travelled to the United States where he collaborated with many well-known stars such as Robert de Niro, Sophia Loren and others. Though he had initially left for a year, he stayed there for more than 20 years before returning to manage the Melbourne Actor’s Lab.
Her parents Yolla and Peter as well as siblings Nick and Luca (George) are struggling to come to grips with the tragedy at a time of COVID-19 when the family was already struggling due to the problems which the pandemic has caused in the arts sector.
However despite tragedy with the loss of his father and financial struggles with COVID-19, the death of his daughter has by far caused the greatest pain.
A fundraiser for $50,000 has been created with the consent of the Kalos family to help the family cover “all expenses associated with this tragedy, including and not limited to funeral expenses, grief counseling, home expenses, loss of income and anything else the family may require during this awful time of grief.”
