Nikos Mermigas, originally from the picturesque prefecture of Elia in the Peloponnese, was known for his strong support of the AEK football club.
He passed away on Thursday, aged 82.
He was a founding member of the Association for the Friends of AEK in Melbourne and a basic member of the AEK Waverly football club. Apart from his love of football, especially the yellow and black team, he was also fond of the Ilia region and was a member of the Panilia Brotherhood of Hermes.
A funeral service will be held for Mr Mermigas on Wednesday, 25 November, at the Holy Church of St Dimitrios in Prahran.
