Cyprus’ Marcos Baghdatis was beaten in the first round of Wimbledon on Monday, losing to 10th-seeded Croatian Marin Cilic 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.
Cilic took just one hour and 34 minutes to grab the win in straight sets. He fired 16 aces and won 76 per cent of points on his delivery, giving Baghdatis little opportunity to make inroads.
He has now set his sights on getting back into form for the German Bundesliga from 5-7 July before travelling to the USA to begin his US Open Series campaign in Washington on 29 July.
