Greek-Australian student, Matina Samios, 18, was among Queensland’s top 30 students. She achieved the highest Australian Tertiary Admission Rank of 99.95.

After topping Queensland’s OP results in 2019, more than 15.76 per cent of Brisbane Girls Grammar School graduates have achieved an ATAR score above 99 (OP 1 equivalent) in the new ATAR system, with two students attaining a 99.95, the highest possible ATAR.

BGGS graduate and Dux of the School, Matina Samios, attained a 99.95 ATAR score and plans to study Medicine, aspiring to explore how technology can be harnessed to combat healthcare concerns.

‘I hope to bridge the gap between scientific discovery and clinical practice, searching for the next health advancement through translational research,’ she said.

Matina said she was grateful for the support of her teachers throughout her entire time at Girls Grammar.

‘Our incredible teachers showed us they not only care about our academic achievements—they care about our wellbeing’, Matina said.

‘I’m so appreciative for their organisation and tireless work done behind the scenes to ensure we had the most seamless transition to ATAR during our senior years of schooling.’

“It’s such a relief, it’s a weight lifted off my shoulders,” she said.
