The toughest school-year in modern times has finally come to an end for Victorian students with the official announcement of VCE and VCAL results.
In spite of the challenges brought on by a pandemic, year 12 students have increased their scores with 38 students reaching near perfection receiving an ΑΤΑR of 99.95.
According to the Ministry of Educatuion 50,284 Victorian students participated in this year’s VCE exams seeing 98.3 per cent of those reach reach their goals. Meanwhile, 14,529 students – a record number – got their VCAL. Overall, girls scored higher than boys this year, with a median score of 69 over 66, respectively.
In modern Greek, Oakleigh Grammar, student Marialena Lupo received 49/50. Her teacher Natasa Spanou said that she is very proud for the Greek-Italian student who didn’t just pass the subject but excelled.
“It was a score that, due to the pandemic and the difficulties faced, she didn’t expect; but as her teacher I didn’t expect it either,” Ms Spanou told Neos Kosmos.
Meanwhile, Greek Australian student Elaine Xafis (Ελένη Ξαφή) from Firbank Grammar School received an ATAR of 97.8.
Finally, Oakleigh Grammar’s Xuwei (Amy) Ding, scored an ATAR of 95.2 while Bentleigh Secondary College school captain Tia Lambas got the highest ATAR in her school.
