Learn to dance in the traditional Greek Dance style at the Pegasus Dance Academy.
Pegasus Dance Academy specialises in traditional Greek dance which dates back over 2,500 years and classes start from age five and upwards.
Traditional Greek dance is a great way to meet people in a social atmosphere with no more than 20 people per class. Sotiris Sotiriou, who formed the company in 1988 has gone to great lengths to maintain the authenticity of dances.
The school does not modernise the dances and keeps to the authentic, traditional styles. There are well over 200 different types of Greek dances as they vary from one region to another and the school teaches styles based on region.
Sotiris has attended Greek dance conferences in Greece in 1991,1994,1996 and 1997 and even brought one of the Greek professors to Australia in 1997.
Sotiris and two other dancers from the Pegasus Dance Academy were honoured to be involved in the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Sydney 2000.
