Zenon Education Centre is a modern Greek language school for children in kindergarten, primary school, high school and VCE, which aims to promote the Greek language to the younger generations. The school operates in Malvern-Chadstone-Oakleigh and Caulfield-Elsternwick (Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday). It also offers playgroup for preschool children one to three years old.
The philosophy of Zenon is based on the needs of today’s family with the child being the protagonist in their education. Thus, the students of the school always come to the classroom with joy and learn about Greek language and culture, taking initiative and active action in the lesson.
The curriculum is based on the virtues established by the ancient stoic philosopher Zenon which are; reason, courage, justice and wisdom for a complete human being, useful to society. That is why the Zenon Education Centre stands out because it teaches respect for mankind and nature and helps children gain confidence by discovering their identity and roots.
The staff of the school under the direction of Mrs Andria Garivaldis work hard as a dynamic team during the year, managing to carry out what is difficult to find in the Greek Diaspora. The school applies modern ways of teaching the Greek language, creating new programs that draw on many years of experience and continuous training.
For the last ten years, Zenon has repeatedly distinguished itself in student competitions in theater, cinema, language and culture, creative work and expression in Australia and Greece. Through the role of the hero, student follow the journey of Zenon connecting it with the current reality and the struggle of young people face living in a complex multi-cultural and multi-lingual society.
The Zenon Education Centre places special emphasis on drama and positive education. Through theater, children become acquainted with oral speech and reproduce the language. Along with the assistance of positive education, children also acquire a sense of identity and self-confidence with which they develop positively and progress. Children also learn Greek dance and traditions, participating in activities with themes that originate from Greek customs and traditions.
Finally, Zenon offers children the opportunity to practice the Greek language through the school’s special electronic platform.
