Fronditha Care this week announced the appointment of Faye Spiteri (Tsolakis) as CEO following the recent resignation of Michael Malakonas.

Fronditha Care President and Board Chair, Jill Taylor (Nikitakis) said, “Faye is an exceptional leader who brings very relevant and diverse skills and experience to the role. She is an accomplished executive with a demonstrated successful track record in leadership roles across the government, corporate and for purpose sectors.”

Ms Taylor confirmed how vitally important it was to the Board to appoint a new CEO with deep knowledge of the business and someone who could act swiftly to recalibrate the organisation which has been transparent about the significant financial and strategic challenges it is currently facing. In November, the gruop released its latest annual report, highlighting the organisation’s milestones for 2019-2020 but also recorded a $6.5 million deficit.

Ms Spiteri has a wide-ranging background including social policy, service delivery, strategy, people management, communications and commercial acumen. More importantly, she has broad cross-sectoral networks and extensive governance expertise which she brings to the role. This includes her experience as the first female President of Fronditha Care and Vice President of the Fronditha Care Board, during her nine-year tenure.

Ms Taylor said, “Faye is already very much aligned with the organisation’s culture and brings with her existing relationships with the entire Fronditha Care community including staff, members, volunteers, partners, sector leaders, organisational influencers and other key stakeholders.”

Commenting on the appointment, Ms Spiteri said, “Fronditha Care holds a special place as one of the few independent aged care service providers contributing essential culturally appropriate services to the community.”

She added: “I am excited to be appointed CEO of Fronditha Care and to address the challenges that lie ahead. Given my three-decade passion and commitment to make a difference for the community, it is a privilege to lead the organisation as CEO and, together with the Board and staff, continue the focus on advancing the provision of optimal care outcomes for our elders.”

Faye most recently held senior roles with the Victorian Government. Prior to that she was an Executive leader within the Clemenger Group and Partner with global firm Hall and Partners.

She recently retired as Board Chair of inTouch Multicultural Centre Against Family Violence, a role she held for the last 10 years; she led that organisation to become a recognised leading provider of services for women, children and families experiencing family violence. Ms Spiteri has continued to support the work of inTouch through her role as Patron. She is a nonexecutive Director of a number of healthcare providers, including Parkinson’s Australia.

Early in her career Faye was recognised for her contribution to driving social change and awarded the Victorian Premier’s Achievement Award in 2001. In 2019, she was recognised for her significant contribution to the Victorian community and inducted to the Victorian Honour Roll for Women as a Change Agent.
