A new case was detected today, connected to the Holiday Inn quarantine hotel at Melbourne Airport. This time, in a returned traveler, who after completing her 14 days of quarantine at the hotel, was released on Sunday.

After hearing about the first positive case in a worker at the same hotel, the returned traveler sought testing which returned a positive result today.

The first case to be linked with the Holiday Inn, was detected in a female worker who tested positive on Sunday, which was followed by a second worker’s positive result, revealed this afternoon.

Authorities believe the virus was spreading within the hotel quarantine system and the traveler had become infected just before the end of her stay, according to to Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton.

Mr Sutton added that Authorities are focusing their attention on the transmission that seems to have occurred on the floor where the positive cases were staying.
