The Pancretan Association of Victoria is sending 20 lucky dance group members on a two week tour of Greece.

The tour entitled ‘Pilgrimage to the Homeland’ is the first of its kind in the 30 year history of the association.

Recognising the close ties between Australia and Crete, the aim is to promote and foster the relationship for second and third generation Greek Australians.

The dance group will have the opportunity to perform at various well recognised festivals and events throughout Crete, including an appearance at the International Conference of Cretans in Hania.

Held every four years, with Cretan organisations gathering from around the world, the conference will commemorate 100 years of activity in the Cretan community in Greece and the diaspora.

Those participating in the tour will have the chance to tour the homeland of their grandparents and to immerse themselves in the rich culture of Cretan music, dance, food and art.
