The good news appears to be that with no new COVID-19 cases reported over the last 24 hours, Victoria’s five-day snap “circuit breaker” lockdown is expected to end tonight at midnight as planned and Premier Daniel Andrews is is currently announcing more details this morning.
The latest news is that schools are to re-open tomorrow.
Yesterday the premier was reported as saying that Victoria “was ‘well placed’ to lift some of the restrictions”.

Adding to the optimism that the restrictions could at least be eased was the Department of Health and Human Services’ (DHHS) report today that there were no new COVID-19 cases acquired in the state over the past 24 hours to midnight on Tuesday night, The DHHS reported 25 active cases and 39,258 tests received over the same period. By comparison, 23,950 tests were conducted on Monday.
There had been just two new cases (one locally acquired and the other internationally acquired with 21 active cases reported yesterday for Monday.
Yesterday, the DHHS announced that Elite Swimming in Pascoe Vale has been added to the Tier 2 exposure sites . Tier 2 sites require that under current conditions that anyone who has visited such an area should get tested and isolate until they receive a negative result.
