The Australian Ambassador in Athens, Ms Jenny Bloomfield met last week with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece Diaspora Mr Kyriakos Gerontopoulos.
The Ambassador discussed with the Minister responsible for the Hellenic Diaspora strengthening bilateral relationship between the two countries and Mr Gerontopoulos raised the issue of the proposed reciprocal agreement between Greece and Australia in relation to the working holiday visas.
As Neos Kosmos stated in May, the issue of the agreement was also raised recently in Athens by the federal member of Calwell, in Victoria, Maria Vamvakinou.
According to Ms Vamvakinou, Kostas Tsiaras, Mr Gerontopoulos’ predecessor, had indicated that the Greek government would be in a position to sign off the agreement before September 2013.
