For the first time in the history of Greece’s supreme court, a female has been appointed to the position of attorney. Efterpi Koutzamani has taken the second highest job in supreme court after the government appointed her as attorney general and Michalis Theocharidis as president of the supreme court for civil and criminal law (Areios Pagos). Sotiris Rizos is the president of the Council of State – the highest administrative court.
Koutzamani was the longest-serving deputy public prosecutor at the Areios Pagos, joining the court seven years ago. Previously, she served as a state prosecutor in the trial of the leadership of the November 17 terrorist group.
She will hold the new position until 2016.
