The Greek Australian community has indicated that it supports the government’s decision to sign a 12 month agreement with Papua New Guinea’s government for the settlement of the asylum seekers – who acquire the status of refugees – to PNG instead of Australia, according to our online weekly poll.
This week, Neos Kosmos asked our readers the question ‘Do you support the government’s decision to transfer refugees to Papua New Guinea?’, and although the results were close, our readers indicated they do. Fifty four per cent of respondents answered in the affirmative, while forty six per cent expressed opposition to this agreement.
It appears that for a majority of our respondents, the issue of regaining state control over the immigration program or over the borders of this country prevails over all other considerations.
This week’s poll question is ‘Do you believe Greece is a top tourist destination‘. You can vote now at www.neoskosmos.com
