Perhaps you aren’t ready yet, To have to say goodbye.
Perhaps you’ve thought of things you wished you said, Well so have I.
For one thing I’d have told you, not to worry about me.
I’m with The Lord in heaven now,
You knew that’s where I’d be.
I’m sorry that you’re feeling sad,
For I am so happy now,
I’ve asked The Lord to ease the hurt and comfort you somehow.
It’s hard at the beginning,
But I know you’ll make it through.
I hope it helps to know that I’ll be waiting here for you.
That was the poem that adorned Priscilla Mallis’ facebook page following her untimely death last Friday night. Priscilla was only 19 when she died after her brave lifelong battle with Cystic Fibrosis. Her facebook page has been filled with moving tributes from family and friends who remember a girl – who in the face of anguish and adversity – kept smiling. A girl who never once lost hope even though the odds were stacked so high against her.
Three months after her birth, Priscilla was diagnosed with this life threatening condition. Commonly known as CF, Cystic Fibros is the most common life threatening, recessive genetic condition affecting Australian children.
In January this year, Priscilla was the recipient of a lung transplant, but sadly, not even this could save the brave young lady. At 1:30 am, Friday 9 August, Priscilla lost her fight. Tomorrow, family, friends and members of the Greek community mourned and remembered this bright beautiful angel that was taken away from us so early.
RIP Priscilla Mallis.
