Good classical Anatolian music, a film and discussion, accompanied with some good home-style food, is part of the Greek Bilingual Bookshop and the AHEPA chapter Chiron event, ‘An Asia Minor Experience’ in Sydney.
The event includes a four-course meal accompanied with themed Anatolian music. The first course, ‘mezes’, will include an entree of dolmathakia yialantzi, pita, cheese and olives served with crusty bread, accompanied by a performance of classical Anatolian music on the kanoun by Dimitri and Kiriaki Koubaroulis. The second course is a main of meat or vegetarian moussaka with Greek salad that will be accompanied by the film Twice a Stranger about the exchange of populations between Greece and Turkey in 1922.
Dessert follows, a galakotboureko that will come alongside discussion by various academics and the audience. The fourth course, coffee and loukoumi, will also include a performance on the Pontian lyra.
There will be lots of prizes on the night including CDs, films and books, all associated with Asia Minor.
