The United Nations mediator in a longstanding dispute between Greece and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) over the latter’s official name is due to visit Athens and Skopje between September 9 and 11 for a resumption of talks aimed at reaching a settlement, UN sources said on Tuesday.
Matthew Nimetz is to meet with government officials in both countries as part of ongoing efforts to find a “mutually acceptable solution” to the dispute, the sources said.
Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon discussed the issue in New York last month.
