A Greek Australian professional poker player has taken out the title at the APPT Melbourne Main Event.
Billy Argyros, also known as “The Croc”, has taken out first place at the APPT Melbourne Main Event after competing against 309 players.
The event took place at Melbourne’s Crown Casino and was held over five days.
Mr Argyros, who took out his first live tournament in 1989, walked away with the cash prize of $134,500 and to this day claims over a million dollars worth of tournament earnings.
Bowdy Tolhopf, who came runner up, took home the bigger share of the winnings at $166,000 after a three way deal was struck.
The prize money wasn’t the main focus for “The Croc” however, who was very excited to take out the title, exclaiming “I can’t believe it! I can’t believe it!”
