Panathinaikos was left licking its wounds, after succumbing to PAOK in a 2-1 loss and was left demoted to fifth position after Ergotelis and Antromitos performed better in round seven.

PAOK preserved its 100 percent home record, thanks to a penalty miss by Panathinaikos’s scorer Marcus Berg 10 minutes from time. The Swedish striker sent the ball wide of the post, being unable to score his second of the night after giving the Greens the lead in the 21st minute.

Miroslav Stoch equalized from the spot six minutes later and Stefanos Athanasiadis gave PAOK all three points two minutes into the second half at Toumba.

Olympiakos remained the league’s powerhouse, as it thrashed Veria 6-0. Costas Mitroglou scored his second hat-trick in four days to inch five points ahead as top goal scorer in the League.

The Reds scored their sixth win in seven games to retain their three-point lead, and will face Platanias on Sunday.

Number three on the ladder, Ergotelis will have a real chance to inch ever closer to PAOK with a match against poor performing OFI on Monday.

Panathinaikos will have a harder time up against Panthrakikos, but will have the home advantage to try and reap back some points.

PAOK will face Asteras Tripolis, who have had a mixed start to the season, with their last game ending in a draw. The team must find consistency to really become a finals contender in the second half of the season.

Aris may still be last but has managed its first win this season as it came from behind to triumph 2-1 at Panionios last week.

They take on Veria Monday, a desperate match for both to get points.
