New police pursuit legislation – passed by the WA State Government – which has seen 113 offenders receive minimum mandatory jail terms, has been welcomed by State Member for Perth Eleni Evangel.
“I am extremely pleased with this result. It is encouraging to see that this legislation is indeed reducing the number of reckless drivers and therefore reducing the number of road injuries and deaths ,” said Ms Evangel.
“Anywhere you go people will tell you that crime in general, whether on our roads or threatening our homes, is their biggest and gravest concern. I am indeed delighted at our State Government’s initiatives to protect our community,” said Ms Evangel.
“On this note, it was my absolute pleasure to present a Lotterywest grant of $80,075.00 to Western Australia’s Crime Stoppers, a crucial part of the law enforcement team fighting against crime in our State.” added Ms Evangel.
