Fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas stood tall after dropping the opening set to John Isner, rallying for a 5-7, 6-3, 7-6(3), 6-1 victory on Friday night to book a place in the fourth round at Roland Garros.
Stefanos Tsitsipas advanced to the fourth round by winning his 36th match of the year, the most of anyone on the men’s tour.
And the last American man in the draw has been eliminated with Tsitipas’ win over Isner..
Tsitsipas was prepared for Isner’s giant service game, practicing in a unique way with his hitting partner before the match, and the practice appeared to help him overcome the towering American.
Tsitsipas, a semifinalist last year, will face No. 12 Pablo Carreno Busta today at 10pm AEST (3pm Athens time).
