There were 21 new cases of COVID-19 to midnight this morning – two of which were acquired interstate, the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) reported this morning.

The DHHS said four of the cases were under investigation. Website Covid19data.com.au said this brought the the total number of cases that were under investigation in the state over the past fortnight to six.

The DHHS said there were 137 active cases in the state. Yesterday, 25,418 people received vaccinations in the state bringing the total number of vaccinations to 1,868,317. A total of 45,408 test results were received over the same period.

The ABC reported this morning that Queensland had 10 new cases. Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the cases were all locally acquired and were linked to the Delta cluster in South East Queensland that had started at Indooropilly Stat High School. All ten people were in home quarantine.

There were 155 active cases with one overseas-acquired case which was detected in hotel quarantine.

Ms Palaszczuk called on Queenslanders not to cross into New South Wales and said that she would ask mayors to reinforce her message.

“Of course, we have essential workers that have to, but now was not the time to cross the border to do your shopping,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

“What we are seeing now is more of these regional communities close to the Queensland border, especially out in the south-west area, are now going into a period of lockdown. We will be monitoring the situation extremely closely over the next 24 to 48 hours. “We do not want to see this virus creeping north.”

“If we have to implement harder measures, we will,” she warned.

The premier said that from midday people from South Australia would be able to leave quarantine provided they had received a negative test result. Queensland would only receive South Australia visitors coming by air into the state because of the severity of the New South Wales outbreak.

The latest figures for New South Wales were not available at the time of writing.
