Tom Boyd was the top selection at this year’s AFL national draft. Boyd was snapped up with the number one selection by Greater Western Sydney at last week’s draft on the Gold Coast, with the Giants using pick two on Josh Kelly.

In addition to these prime picks, GWS also added key forward Cameron McCarthy with pick 14 and ruckman Rory Lobb. The drafting of Boyd and McCarthy, who will join existing forwards Jeremy Cameron and Jonathon Patton, will give the Giants a potentially very dangerous forward line.

Although there were a couple of Greek Australian young players who nominated for the draft in James Tsitas and Nathan Botsanis, they were not picked by any of the teams.
