NSW has reported 1431 new local coronavirus cases on Friday and 12 deaths, which is the highest number of cases and deaths recorded in NSW so far.

On Friday, Victoria’s Health Department confirmed 208 new cases of COVID-19 and a death. The toll from the latest oubreak is now three after a woman  a woman in her 40s and a woman in her 60s died in their homes on Tuesday.

There were 96 of the new cases linked to known outbreaks and 112 infections are under investigation.

There were 48,572 tests processed in the last 24 hours and 33,511 vaccine doses were administered at state-run hubs.

The state’s exposure sites rose to more than 1,000, including a fertility clinic in the same building as the Victorian parliament’s press gallery.

Playgrounds in Victoria reopened on Friday morning for children aged 12 and under with new rules, such as QR-code check-ins and mask-wearing for the one adult allowed to supervise the children.

From today, there will be fewer people permitted to cross the border between Victoria and NSW.
