President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou on Friday appealed to those still hesitating over getting a vaccine against the novel coronavirus to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Sakellaropoulou made the statement as she emerged from Evangelismos Hospital in central Athens, after getting a third, booster shot against Covid-19.
As the president emphasised, by getting vaccinated they will benefit not only themselves but also offer a great service to their families and society as a whole. “Exiting the health crisis is now our own choice,” she added.
As Sakellaropoulou pointed out, science has equipped humanity with the vaccine, which was the most effective way, in combination with the other health measures that have been taken, to finally be rid of the pandemic “which has been the cause of so many victims and pain for humanity.”
“The proof of this is not only the opinions of the experts but also the facts themselves. According to the statistics, 10 months after the start of the vaccination programme, the overwhelming majority of those that fall serious ill with the virus have not been vaccinated,” she added.
