PAOK may be on their way to putting a bad year behind them when they grabbed their first Group E win in the basketball’s FIBA Champions League after defeating previously unbeaten Turkish side Galatasaray 81-74.
In the game played on Tuesday evening before their fanatical home fans at the Alexandreio Melathron Nikos Galis Hall in Thessaloniki, PAOK overcame a 12-point deficit in the first quarter to go on and win their encounter.
Latest Basketball News reported that in the second half the Thessaloniki team gained confidence and momentum when they scored nine three pointers and went on to take the lead and hold it to the end.
Although Kerry Blackshear Jr scored 18 points and seven rebounds for Galatsaray it was not enough.

PAOK’s Marvin Jones contribution of 12 points, 11 rebounds, two assists and two blocks made him too hot to handle. Jermaine Love who came off the bench contributed with 14 points and three rebounds along with Malcolm Griffin (13 points, two rebounds, five assists and two steals).
The result was a good lift for PAOK who have suffered two narrow defeats in Group E and leaving them bottom of the group on four points. They next travel to the Czech Republic to face Prague side ERA Nymburk who are second on the table.
The loss still leaves Galatasaray at the top of the group as they next host Bosnian team KK Igokea, also on 9 November.
