In the last 24 hours from yesterday’s announcement Victoria has recorded 905 new COVID-19 cases and four deaths.
For the first time since September the state’s infection numbers dropped below 1000.
At the same time thousands of Victorian’s protested in Melbourne’s CBD against the controversial Public Health and Wellbeing Amendment (pandemic management) Bill 2021, which passed the lower house in October.
Meanwhile in New South Wales, case numbers were under 200. More specifically, NSW recorded 195 new COVID-19 infections with one acquired interstate. A man in his 80s passed at Nepean Hospital from coronavirus and had received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Queensland on the other hand, is carrying on with zero new cases and is on the road to opening its border when the state reaches its 70 per cent double vaccination target.
Health Minister Yvette D’Ath confirmed that Queensland is at 69.94 per cent double dose (16+), adding that “58 per cent of people coming forward to get vaccinated at the school pop-ups yesterday were getting their first jab”.
Tomorrow, Monday, Queensland’s Premier will make an official announcement regarding vaccination rates and the roadmap to reopening the state.
Lastly, the Australian Capital Territory recorded 15 new infections in the 24 hours to 8pm yesterday and sits at 172 active cases in the territory, with no hospitalisations.
