Albanian international Besart Berisha has announced he will leave Brisbane Roar and the end of the season and join Melbourne Victory.

Melbourne Victory Coach Kevin Muscat adds the striker after just signing Socceroos great Tom Rogic, building a new look team full of capped players.

Berisha, who has scored a remarkable 41 goals in his 65 appearances for Brisbane Roar was also a pivotal player in Brisbane’s Championship winning season in 2012.

The 28-year-old will fill the Club’s International Marquee spot for the next two seasons.

Melbourne Victory Coach Kevin Muscat said having a striker of Berisha’s quality join the club was an exciting prospect for members, players and the coaching staff alike.

“Besart has been performing at the highest level week-in, week-out for Brisbane and has caused plenty of headaches for opposition defenders and coaches, including myself,” Muscat said.

“He’s a proven goal-scorer and a player that we can’t wait to welcome to Melbourne Victory.

Brisbane Roar was keen to keep the striker on the books but had to look at other options.

“With the salary cap we have in this league, the ins and outs of players are a fact of life,” Roar’s Head Coach Mike Mulvey said.

“Brisbane Roar has been aware that this was a possibility and we are committed to bringing in a quality striker for the next A-League season.”

Berisha will beginning pre-season training with his new Victory teammates in July.
