Health authorities in Greece have reported 6,590 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours ending at 3pm on Christmas day.
The country also announced 58 deaths with 617 patients on ventilators as plans for events and celebrations were being cancelled as a result of a new set of preventative measures.
Most cases were detected in Athens followed by Thessaloniki out of a total of 434,719 tests per day.
