World number six Maria Sakkari has made it to the second round of the Adelaide International at Memorial Drive with a 6-2, 0-6, 6-4 victory against Slovenian Tamara Zidansek.
“It didn’t feel great to be honest, it wasn’t a good match from my side,” said Sakkari, who ranked third in Adelaide International 1.
“But I found a way to win and sometimes that’s enough and I’m excited to be in the second round.”
Meanwhile, Maria Papamichail from Greece also beat UK’s Francesca Jones in the first qualifying match, n one hour and forty-two minutes by 3-6, 6-2 and 6-1.
In the next round of the tournament, Papamichail will face the winner of the match between Switzerland, Stephanie Fegele and Germany’s Tatiana Maria.
