Incumbent President of the Greek Community in Melbourne, Bill Papastergiadis has triumphed in elections held yesterday to elect a new Board of Directors.

Turnout was relatively low on the day with just 665 votes counted of which 26 were deemed invalid.

Nick Dallas who was featured on both ballots, gathered the most votes with 624 counted.

According to Election Committee representatives who spoke to Neos Kosmos all 19 candidates on Mr Papastergiadis’ ballot were elected.

Speaking to Neos Kosmos Mr Papastergiadis expressed his great satisfaction that members voted to endorse the work of the Community during the previous term and that they have renewed their trust both in himself and his colleagues.

“I want to thank all those that came forward to vote and who honoured us with their endorsement. The electoral race has ended. There are no winners or losers. From tomorrow we continue united for the progress of the organisation and the community” Mr Papastergiadis stated last night as the unofficial results were announced.

The Electoral Committee made the official results available this morning.
